Brace yourself! EU is at a tipping point, because the abyss is closer than we think!
Quote Martin Jay from Frontnews
HUH, It is Italy that will trigger a turnaround in EU policy towards Russia and the war in Ukraine if the coalition government collapses. Mario Draghi, who may recall interest rate hikes like the ECB’s this week that only happened before when he was in charge of the eurozone crisis, is out.
By resigning from his position as prime minister, he must see the writing on the wall and that we are heading for another crisis in the eurozone.
At the moment, the euro has already fallen to parity with the dollar and inflation in the eurozone averages around 8.6 percent (although it is now 10 percent in Spain, 12 percent in Greece and a thundering 20 percent in Estonia). . A heart under the belt for Croatia, which plans to join the eurozone soon.
But it is Italy that will trigger a turnaround in the EU’s policy towards Russia and the war in Ukraine. In September, two far-right Italian groups, whose leaders both admire Putin, will come to power as a coalition through elections with immediate effect.
Once this happens, others in the EU will see how ridiculous it is to continue with the so-called beating of Putin, a beating that is actually destroying economies and ruining lives across the entire bloc of 27 EU member states. Other EU countries will see that the desperate plight of Italy, which has a debt of 150% of its GDP and a double-digit inflation, can only be saved by a radical political change. Elites in the other EU countries will fear that populist uprisings that jettison the established mainstream parties will head their way as soon as they see the Italian economy go from a boiling point to a gentle simmer. And once the Italian coalition is in place, the dialogue – something we have not yet seen from the EU – will begin with Putin.
Putin is laughing all the way to the bank in Ukraine with this current crisis that Europe has created for itself. There is no urgency on his part to actually do anything. The EU is sinking itself into an acid bath all by itself and all he has to do is look at it as if he were watching a comedy on TV.
The Italian change in politics will also be a huge blow to the EU, which is really spiraling out of control. Who would have thought that a political bum like Ursula von der Leyen would be as useless as she turns out to be. By definition – and by tradition – the presidents of the European Commission are supposed to be quite inept and subservient to their masters France and Germany. Few could have imagined that Ursula would have made such a mess of Brexit, Covid, Russia and soon the eurozone itself.
The EU is only as strong as the three giants of Europe – Germany, France and Italy – that it is supposed to protect. Still, Germany has a trade deficit for the first time in 30 years and is talking about energy rationing, with many factories in the country expected to close or run at half production soon.
All the pressure will be on the ECB as another eurozone crisis looms, as Italy is forced to repay its debtors higher interest rates as the ECB slows down the printing of new currencies.
This is extremely dangerous for Italy and, like Greece, could lead to a total collapse of its economy. The difference is that Italy is a founding EU country and it is too big to collapse, meaning France and Germany will have to stick to the ventilator. This scenario is hard to imagine without Macron and Scholz changing their minds about the war in Ukraine and the EU’s attitude towards Putin in general.
Germany has only recently begun to show signs of changing its tactics towards Putin. It was recently announced that a €9 billion aid package destined for Ukraine has been blocked by Berlin, linked to the Germans’ failure to supply Ukraine-supporting countries with tanks, as it had previously promised.
These are not “cracks” that appear. These signs are more numerous than these, and it is more likely that we will soon see squabbles between Scholz and von der Leyen in Brussels, with Macron intervening to seek a new dialogue with Putin.
US and NATO are at war with Russia in Ukraine… but Russia is assured of victory
The once golden relationship between the US and the EU is also coming to a standstill. The EU will soon be more divided than ever over the war in Ukraine, and Biden’s almost certain self-destruction in the midterms in November will greatly reduce the US’s role in supplying weapons to Zelensky.
There will be a blame game, carefully drafted weeks in advance in the media, pointing to the endemic corruption in the Ukrainian elite and the illegal sale of much of the US hardware to Syrian jihadists. In fact, this has already started, but has not yet moved into top gear, which is to be expected after the summer period before the Italian elections.
The West needs to get out of the war in Ukraine and it needs a gold-edged reason for the turnaround. Zelensky will, as always, give them the perfect subterfuge, for he never fails in his prime role of useful idiot—if he survives the assassination attempts of his own cabal, which wants a bigger piece of the pie.
The absurd idea of the left to fight an all-out war in Ukraine with NATO forces will be nipped in the bud by fascists in Italy, who believe more in the power of feeding the people and providing public services than in the folly of the geopolitical patter and the trivialities that accompany such nonsense.
Who would have thought that Mussolini’s descendants would lead the EU away from the abyss it wants to plunge tooth and nail over?
Long story. But it covers my research from the last 3 years. Theo R.
